Four Principles of Negotiation from Getting To Yes

In Getting To Yes, authors Roger Fisher and William Ury gives the following four points for negotiations:

  1. Separate people from the problem.
  2. Focus on interests, not on positions.
  3. Generate options (that satisfy interests).
  4. Find objective criteria/standards.

Great book. Also recommended on the subject of negotiation: Crucial Conversations and How to Win Friends and Influence People.
