Nobel Museum Notes

I visited the Nobel Museum today. Finally. I’ve been meaning to go see the Cultures of Creativity exhibition for quite a while. The parts I found most interesting were the short films they showed, on the themes “creative milieus” and “individuals.” The exhibition was quite interesting, but not as good as I expected.

Some notes.

Basel Institute of Immunology (website annoyingly resizes the browser window), 1968-2001. Very creative environment. Made me think of early Saturday Night Live, Pixar (1 2 3), Disney.

One of the films claimed that the concept of “thinking out loud” was “invented” by Niels Bohr, and that he based his institute on this principle, the principle of communication. The importance of communicating experiences & ideas.

Thought about the conditions or relevant factors for creativity. Environment, communication – what else? Tools? (Thought about the two pieces social software must have – groups and conversations.)

The above was posted to my personal weblog on October 21, 2004. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
