“Two Urban Models” at Stockholm’s Museum of Architecture

By sheer luck, I managed to get permission to take a look at and take photographs1 of the 1:1000 scale model of Tokyo’s Minato City now shown at the Museum of Architecture during the press reception. It is very impressive and opens to the public tomorrow. Some shots (click to view larger):

There’s a model of Stockholm’s Old Town and part of Norrmalm alongside it, to get a sense of the size of this part of Tokyo. Here’s an attempt to capture them together:

1 The museum prohibits photography by convenience, citing copyright as the reason. But currently, there’s an exhibition by a painter that has been dead for over 70 years, which means all his works are in the public domain. This is insane, and I plan on following this up in the near future.

The above was posted to my personal weblog on August 4, 2004. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
