Help With a Check

I’ve received a check from a U.S. bank which I intend to spend on books. Cashing it in Sweden will cost about 18–20 dollars, which would pay for at least one book. Unfortunately, I can’t pay with it at Amazon.com, although it has my name on it. Does anybody know of a better/cheaper way to cash it?

The above was posted to my personal weblog on February 12, 2004. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
