Currently Reading

Back to normal programming. I’m currently reading The Timeless Way of Building by Christopher Alexander, in the mode he suggests for those who only have an hour to spend on it. This because I want to grasp the whole before the details. I will read it again, in full, later.

(Read this way, it sometimes reminds me of the Tao Te Ching or of Zen texts. And the way the book is organized reminds me of this as well: the three parts of the book are titled “The Quality,” “The Gate,” and “The Way”—first you must know what the quality (“without a name”) is, then you must build a gate, which you then pass and begin practicing “the timeless way.”)

The above was posted to my personal weblog on December 10, 2003. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
