Summary of October, 2003
In October, 2003, I focused mainly on semiotics (and writing summaries).
At the beginning of the month, I was reading Juri Lotman’s Semiotics of Cinema (the Swedish translation), which probably isn’t the best book to read to learn what semiotics is, but it worked quite well for me. (I posted lots of quotes from it to my Swedish weblog.)
See the following posts:
- Seeing things as languages (of October 1; see also this)
- The Semiotics of Software Architecture (of October 4)
- Jazz and Semiotics (of October 10)
- What is Semiotics? (of October 19)
- What is Semiotics? (continued) (of October 19)
- The Semiotics of Yo-Yo Playing (of October 20)
- Code is Art (or Could Be) (of October 21)
I launched my summaries page, and therefore this month’s list of posts is dominated by the ten summaries I wrote.
Then I began reading Umberto Eco’s Travels in Hyperreality—or, rather, a Swedish essay collection which closely matches it, and from which I posted some quotes to my Swedish weblog.
