Acquiring Language

It’s interesting to observe my daughter acquiring language. Most of the words she learned early on are unchanged: she still says them the same way. Most of them are one-syllable renditions of multi-syllable words, where she (most often) has picked the dominant syllable.

Some words, however, she has refined the pronunciation of. They are still one-syllable, but with a little more detail. Then—and this is interesting—for new words she learn, she often tries to express all or most of the syllables, and some words come out almost correct.

I’m eager to see how/when she begins to refine the pronunciation of words she’s known for a long time.
