Two quotes about design

Dan Hill quotes an article by Stephen Bayley about design:

No single individual was ever responsible for the entire creation of a typewriter or a computer yet – for cultural reasons – we feel the need to attribute authorship to a person, not a team.

and:

Design as an all-embracing organisational activity has become a bit of a fiction and the designer’s work is, in fact, closer to the whims of the pleasure principle than the maths of Ohm’s law.

Both very applicable to software development.

The above was posted to my personal weblog on March 19, 2003. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
