Earth Rise

I tried to find this picture a while ago, with no success. I read somewhere about the impact this image had on people; I can’t remember where. Today, I stumbled on this post by the Jinn of Quality and Risk that linked to visibleearth.nasa.gov where there are lots of images of Earth, taken from space. Apparently, this picture was taken thirty years ago today. I was three months and three days old then.

Update: Check out the movie if you have the bandwidth. Also, a clarification: this image is a new rendering “inspired by the mission”, not the picture taken thirty years ago (which can be found here).

The above was posted to my personal weblog on December 7, 2002. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
