Deterministic Mutation Rate Variation in the Human Genome

This morning, I listened to Vetenskapsradion (“Science Radio”) about how Swedish scientists at Department of Evolutionary Biology have discovered that the genome doesn’t vary randomly over generations, but that they seem to follow patterns. Some parts of the genome vary more than others. There’s an article in Genome Research about this, not free of course, but the abstract is.
