My smart playlist
I’ve thought a lot about the optimal smart playlist in iTunes. Only listening to songs that are rated four or five isn’t an option for me. Sometimes a song “grows” after a few listenings. Also, only listening to the best songs will eventually wear them out. You wouldn’t want that to happen, would you?
So, today, I created a playlist with the following rules:
- Match all of the following conditions:
- Last Played is not in the last 3 days
- My rating is greater than [two stars]
- Limit to 6 hours selected by my rating
Then select shuffle mode and repeat all, and you’ll have a dynamic list where songs that you have rated three stars will be pushed off the list for three days. This feature has really transformed my music listening. Previously I mostly listened “by album” or “by artist”.
