Weblog neighborhood

DJ writes about a script he’s written that compiles a neighborhood for your weblog, but it does this by “by following the ‘links to’ information for [the weblog’s] URL in Blogdex” – basically all weblogs that link to you.

I wonder if it wouldn’t be more meaningful to compile a list of all external links in the weblog, check who also links to those webpages, assigning a score to every weblog that does and then finally listing the top 10 weblogs based on that score. This would say “these are weblogs that comment on the same things that your weblog comments on” instead of “these are weblogs that link to you”.

The above was posted to my personal weblog on June 11, 2002. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
