Alain de Botton

I’m on the last few pages now of the book How Proust Can Change Your Life by Alain de Botton. I very much recommend this book. It’s in the same spirit as his The Consolations of Philosophy, however not as good as the latter, but indeed a very interesting and enjoyable one.

If you’re curious on (western) philosophy, do read the second book of the two. It is a great introduction to philosophers like Socrates, Epicurus, Montaigne and Nietsche, told in the context of everyday problems common to most people. Very entertaining! And if you’re interested in Marcel Proust, read the first one.
